CHRISTMAS WITH SPYMONKEY

We thought it would be nice to spend a bit of quality time with our international Family of Monkey this Yule-tide, so we are giving you all a Christmas present!

For 24 hours from midday on Sunday 22nd December we’ll be making our live recording of Spymonkey’s A Christmas Carol free to stream on our Vimeo channel. You’ll be able to gather round the tellybox anywhere in the world from midday (GMT) 22nd – midday 23rd . So you’ll be able to snuggle down with your loved ones to watch our stupidly, spectacularly and lovingly rendered version of Dickens’ best-loved story.

★★★★ “Prepare for a treat. This inventively unhinged take on the seasonal favourite is a bonkers delight. Emotionally true to the spirit of the redemptive tale, yet its zany approach is so original and refreshingly free from sugary sentiment that it makes an invigorating tonic for festive fatigue.

“Ed Gaughan’s swaggering production is, beneath the lunacy, impeccably skilled, with an adroit four-strong cast and a drum-tight band. Just when you’re almost crying with laughter, it sneaks in a moment so lovely or melancholy that suddenly you’re tearing up all over again.”

The Times

If you miss it don’t worry – the recording will be available to download and stream on the Vimeo-on-demand service from 1st December. Details of that and all our other online show videos are on our online shop.

All proceeds will be donated to our new annual Brassmonkey Bursary Scheme, promoting diversity in performance training – and to which you are welcome to donate any time you darn well like.

You’ll be able to complete the family Christmas experience by playing a few rounds of our What The Dickens card-game. Created by Spymonkey with illustrator and former children’s laureate Chris Riddell, this is a card game to warm the cockles of your heart! Fun for all the family, and featuring favourite characters from Spymonkey’s version of Charles Dickens’ best-loved story.

Contains 49 lovingly illustrated playing cards, 70mm x 120mm, in a presentation box. For 3 to 6 players, ages 5 and up. All proceeds of sales go to our Brassmonkey Bursary Scheme, providing financial assistance to 2 young performers in 2020.
