We’ve had a fantastic response to our 7 week run of Hysteria at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa.
The run marks a landmark for Spymonkey as the longest residency we’ve ever undertaken, and also is the first time we’ve replaced original Spymonkey cast members. We’ve taken advantage of this US run to do some rebranding: HYSTERIA is the new title of COOPED, Spymonkey’s longest running show, first performed in 2001 and enjoyed the world over. More about HYSTERIA on our pages here.
Cabaret artist and performer Anne Goldmann, of Californian duo Daredevil Chicken replaces Petra Massey as Laura Dulay for the whole Tampa residency.
And the brilliant Bill Barberis from Belgium replaces Stephan Kreiss as Klaus for the last two weeks of the run.
Here’s a clip of CBS Great Day hosts Kendal and Java beating the crap out of Toby and Aitor:
Fab review from Broadway World:
“If The Three Stooges, Monty Python and Benny Hill did some shrooms, dropped some acid and collaborated with Alfred Hitchcock on a soap-operaesque film-noir theatrical experience, this would be that peculiar, beloved brainchild… This is an uproariously funny, must-see theatrical experience running through November 3. Hysteria is true to its name – utterly hysterical.”
And here are some of the responses from social media… (production shots by Jane Hobson with Aitor Basauri, Anne Goldmann, Stephan Kreiss and Toby Park)
